Brazilian payments firm ebanx expands into southeast Asia markets

Brazilian fintech company Ebanx has announced a major international expansion strategy focused on Southeast Asia, as it seeks to strengthen its presence beyond Latin America.

The company, which provides cross-border payment solutions for global firms such as Uber and Shein, is expanding its services into Thailand, Indonesia, and Turkey. It also plans to enter Malaysia and Vietnam in the near future.

This move reflects the company’s broader ambition to tap into fast-growing digital commerce markets across emerging economies. Ebanx has positioned itself as a key payment intermediary in regions where traditional banking infrastructure and credit card penetration remain limited.

The firm, supported by private equity investors such as Advent International and FTV Capital, has significantly increased its international operations in recent years. A growing share of its revenue now comes from outside Brazil and Latin America, highlighting its global diversification strategy.

Company executives note that expanding geographic coverage is essential in the global payments industry, where merchants rely on partners that can provide access to local payment methods in multiple markets.

As digital transactions continue to rise across Southeast Asia’s large and young population, Ebanx sees strong long-term growth potential in the region, particularly as online commerce becomes increasingly mainstream.
