AXA Crédit Maroc becomes Stellantis Salaf Maroc as automotive financing expands
The transformation of AXA Crédit Maroc is taking Stellantis’ presence in Morocco into a new phase. One year after the company was acquired by FIDIS, the financial arm of Stellantis, it has adopted the name Stellantis Salaf Maroc and is expanding its role as the group’s financial captive in the country.
The change reflects more than a corporate rebranding. The company is being repositioned to bring financing closer to the vehicle purchasing process, with customers able to access solutions that combine automotive credit with insurance and related services.
From consumer lending to integrated automotive finance
Stellantis Salaf Maroc retains consumer lending, its traditional business, while adding a dedicated automotive financing activity connected to the manufacturer’s distribution network.
Since July 2026, customers have been able to explore financing packages directly in Stellantis showrooms. These offers can bring together the vehicle, credit, insurance and additional services within a single purchasing experience.
The strategy reflects changing consumer behaviour in the automotive market. Rather than focusing solely on a vehicle’s headline price, buyers are increasingly looking at the monthly payment and the overall cost of ownership. Financing therefore becomes part of the commercial proposition rather than a separate step after the purchase decision.
A new financial tool for Stellantis
For Stellantis, the captive finance model serves several purposes. It can make vehicle purchases more accessible by providing financing options tailored to different customer profiles, while also giving the group greater insight into purchasing patterns and customer needs.
That information could support the development of more personalised financial products. It may also facilitate the introduction of alternative mobility models, including long-term rental solutions, which remain relatively limited in Morocco compared with more mature automotive markets.
The evolution of Stellantis Salaf Maroc therefore extends beyond conventional car loans. It places financial services closer to the manufacturer’s broader commercial and mobility strategy.
Financing joins Stellantis’ Moroccan ecosystem
The move comes as Stellantis seeks to build on its recent financial performance. The group returned to profit during the first half of 2026, reporting net income of €670 million and a 10% increase in revenue.
In Morocco, financial services are now becoming another component of the group’s industrial and commercial footprint. Stellantis already has engineering activities in Casablanca, manufacturing operations in Kénitra, distribution networks and spare-parts operations.
The expansion of Stellantis Salaf Maroc adds financing to that ecosystem, creating a more integrated chain stretching from vehicle development and production to distribution and customer credit.
The strategy will also accompany the group’s upcoming industrial developments in Kénitra, where two new Fiat models, the Fiat Fastback and Fiat Grizzly, are expected to enter production.
Existing AXA Crédit customers retain their contracts
For customers who previously signed agreements with AXA Crédit Maroc, the transition does not alter their existing contractual commitments. Current contracts remain valid despite the change in corporate identity.
The company also retains its established consumer-credit infrastructure, including a network of 40 branches and approximately 120 employees. At the same time, it is developing the automotive financing side of its business to support Stellantis’ vehicle sales.
The repositioning gives the manufacturer another way to connect the different stages of the customer journey. Instead of treating financing as an independent financial transaction, Stellantis is incorporating it into the purchase of the vehicle and the services surrounding it.
A broader approach to automotive services
The creation of Stellantis Salaf Maroc illustrates the growing role of financial services within the automotive industry. For manufacturers, the relationship with customers increasingly extends beyond the moment a vehicle leaves the showroom.
By combining vehicles, financing, insurance and other services, Stellantis is seeking to develop a more integrated proposition for Moroccan motorists. The evolution of its financial subsidiary consequently represents another step in the group’s strategy to connect manufacturing, distribution and customer services within the Moroccan market.
