Air India Flight Lands in Thailand After Bomb Threat All Passengers Evacuated
An Air India plane traveling from Phuket, Thailand, to New Delhi, India, was forced to make an emergency landing following a bomb threat received onboard, according to Thai airport officials.
Flight AI 379, carrying 156 passengers, departed from Phuket Airport at 9:30 a.m. local time on Friday. However, shortly after takeoff, the plane circled over the Andaman Sea before returning to Phuket for an emergency landing.
All passengers were safely evacuated as part of the airport's emergency procedures. Authorities did not disclose specific details about the threat, and Air India has yet to issue an official statement.
This incident comes amid a spike in false bomb threats targeting Indian airlines and airports. Last year, authorities received close to 1,000 hoax calls and messages within the first ten months nearly ten times more than in 2023.
