Morocco has been announced as the host nation for the 2024 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, the continent's premier international futsal competition. This will mark the second time in recent years that Morocco has hosted the tournament, having also staged the 2020 edition.

The Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) celebrated the news on Thursday, emphasizing that the competition serves as the qualifier for the 2024 Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan for Africa's top three teams. The 2024 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to take place in April in the southern city of Laayoune.

Morocco has emerged as a futsal powerhouse in recent years, with its national team winning the Arab Futsal Cup for three consecutive editions including most recently in June 2023. The Atlas Lions have also found success internationally, winning the international futsal league in Croatia in October 2022 after dominating Turkey 9-0 in the final.

The selection of Morocco as host of the 2024 tournament underscores the country's growing prominence in the world of football under the leadership of King Mohammed VI. Morocco continues to invest heavily in developing football infrastructure and governance. It will also host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

With a world-class national futsal team and the pedigree of hosting major international tournaments, Morocco appears poised to deliver another top-notch Futsal Africa Cup of Nations in 2024. The tournament will showcase the rising quality of futsal across the continent.
