Guatemala City, Guatemala - On Sunday, Bernardo Arévalo took the oath as Guatemala's new president in a ceremony graced by global leaders, among whom was Morocco's Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi El Alami.

Representing His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Talbi El Alami extended the monarch's congratulations to President Arévalo for his election victory. The inauguration ceremony signifies an opportune moment for Morocco to bolster its diplomatic relations with Guatemala across various sectors, as shared by Talbi El Alami with reporters.

In a statement applauding Arévalo's recent win, HM King Mohammed VI expressed confidence that the enduring ties between Morocco and Guatemala will thrive under the new leadership. The King reiterated Morocco's dedication to advancing bilateral cooperation and South-South partnership.

The official inauguration took place at the Miguel Angel Asturias National Theater in Guatemala City, where President Arévalo recited his oath of office before a distinguished audience of global dignitaries. Morocco's ambassador to Guatemala, Tarik Louajri, also graced the ceremony.
