Morocco's Resilience: Low COVID-19 Cases Persist Amid Ongoing Vaccination Efforts
RABAT - In the latest update from the Health Ministry on Friday, Morocco reported a mere 113 new COVID-19 cases and one fatality over the past week, underscoring the sustained success of the country's robust vaccination campaign. To date, nearly 25 million individuals have received their initial vaccine dose.
The weekly statistics contribute to a cumulative total of 1,278,512 COVID-19 cases since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020, with a consistently low weekly positivity rate of 5.2%.
The majority of the fresh cases emerged in the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region, recording 51 cases along with the reported death. Additional regions with notable case counts include Souss-Massa with 22 cases and Fez-Meknes with 12.
Morocco's vaccination initiative continues to make strides, encompassing nearly 25 million people who have received their first dose and over 23 million fully vaccinated with both doses. Furthermore, close to 7 million individuals have received a third "booster" dose.
Health authorities attribute the sustained low COVID-19 caseload in Morocco to the high vaccination rate. While the global pandemic persists, Morocco has effectively managed to curb the virus more successfully than many other nations.
Officials persist in their encouragement for Moroccans to avail themselves of vaccination opportunities and maintain precautionary measures. They express cautious optimism that, with sustained high vaccination rates, the country can evade another significant wave of infections. The battle against the pandemic in Morocco is far from over, but the nation's proactive measures offer hope for a continued resilient response.
