Moroccans Celebrate the Amazigh New Year for the First Time

Liberation extends its wishes to H.M. King Mohammed VI, H.R.H. Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, and all members of the Royal Family on the occasion of the Amazigh New Year 2974. This Sunday marks the first celebration of the Amazigh New Year as an official national holiday, alongside the first Moharram and the Gregorian New Year. This decision was made by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to emphasize the significance of Amazigh as an essential element of Moroccan identity, in accordance with the constitution.

The celebration of the Amazigh New Year reflects efforts towards Amazigh culture and its heritage, strengthened by the high regard of His Majesty the King. This initiative aims to preserve cultural diversity, enhance the position of Amazigh culture, and meet the aspirations of the Moroccan people in promoting Amazigh language and culture. It marks a significant step in implementing constitutional measures defining Amazigh as an official language of the State.

The government has approved two decree projects establishing the list of paid and non-working public holidays, formalizing the Amazigh New Year as a holiday. Celebrating this day as a national paid holiday underscores the ongoing commitment to cultural diversity and the promotion of Amazigh culture in all aspects of public life.

Azura Signs New Contract with Suez

Suez and Azura Group have signed two 6-year contracts for the implementation of organic waste transformation platforms into compost. These platforms, operating in Agadir and Dakhla, will have a total processing capacity of 116,000 tons of organic waste per year, producing 42,000 tons of compost and 43,000 tons of semi-finished recovered solid fuel.

Azura, specializing in fruits, vegetables, and aquaculture, strengthens its partnership with Suez for the sustainable management of organic waste. The produced compost will be marketed locally, promoting the circular economy and addressing environmental challenges. This contract, initiated in 2020, will contribute to reducing Azura's carbon footprint by approximately 16,000 tons of CO2 eq annually, aligning the group with its commitments to sustainable development.
