In a significant move to enhance Casablanca's urban mobility, the bustling economic hub of Morocco is set to receive a cutting-edge fleet of trams, courtesy of the renowned French rail giant Alstom. The €150 million contract, secured through its Spanish subsidiary, underscores Alstom's commitment to meeting the growing transportation demands of the vibrant city. The delivery of 80 next-generation trams is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024, marking a milestone in the decade-long rail partnerships between Alstom and the Kingdom of Morocco.

The contractual agreement, inked in 2020, paves the way for the expansion of Casablanca's existing two-line tram network, particularly focusing on extending Lines 3 and 4. According to reliable sources within a Moroccan delegation, Alstom is gearing up to ship the initial batch of 26 trams, meticulously assembled at its state-of-the-art facility in Barcelona.

Casablanca's adoption of Alstom's Citadis model trams follows in the footsteps of other major Moroccan cities like Rabat, where the company previously supplied 190 trams back in 2011. As Morocco's largest city gears up to accommodate its burgeoning population with upgraded public transit, Alstom is well-positioned to solidify its role as a key supplier of cutting-edge trams and trains.

This latest tram delivery not only serves as a testament to Alstom's technological prowess but also signifies the deepening collaboration between France and Morocco in the realm of rail infrastructure. As the Franco-Moroccan rail partnership flourishes, Alstom is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of urban mobility in Morocco's economic heart, Casablanca.
