The major reform of the public audiovisual sector in Morocco is taking a new turn, shedding light on the social and financial conditions of public channel personnel. Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, recently emphasized the significance of this national transformation, marked by the nearing completion of the specifications for the new audiovisual Holding project. These advancements, currently at 90%, herald a new chapter for national media.

Minister Bensaid shared this information during a session of oral questions in the House of Representatives, addressing concerns raised by the Authenticity and Modernity Group. Currently, active discussions involve the National Broadcasting and Television Corporation (SNRT), the second national channel (2M), Medi 1 TV, and Medi 1 Radio. The goal is to prepare specifications aimed at strengthening national production, thereby fostering Morocco's cultural sovereignty.

The specifications cover various aspects, including the creation of programs and documentaries focused on Morocco's rich cultural heritage and history. The emphasis is on transmitting these elements to future generations. Simultaneously, the reform aims to bolster the presence of public channels on digital platforms, the use of video-on-demand services (SVoD), and an openness to the English language.

Mehdi Bensaid highlights the importance of a well-orchestrated strategy, emphasizing the need for a program contract to ensure the success of this transformation. In coordination with the delegated ministry responsible for the budget, the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication is actively working on realizing this collective ambition. The goal is clear: to develop a public audiovisual pole, with a particular focus on the 2M channel.

Minister Bensaid concludes by highlighting the transition to a new era for the public television channel, thanks to the innovative audiovisual pole (Holding) project. Emphasizing harmony between the SNRT, 2M, Medi 1 TV, and Medi 1 Radio, he underscores a shared vision crafted in collaboration with all stakeholders. This transformation promises to bring significant changes, both in terms of content and working conditions for personnel, reaffirming the commitment to a major national reform.
