Boluda expands fleet in Tangier with two new tugboats
The Spanish maritime group Boluda Towage is set to deploy two new tugboats at the port of Tangier. These state-of-the-art units, built by the Damen shipyard in Vietnam, are en route to Morocco after successfully completing a series of technical trials.
The VB Amsa and VB Azla tugboats, both of the ASD 2813 type, feature a towing capacity of over 83 tons, an essential asset for assisting large container ships during their maneuvers. They are part of a series of six vessels ordered by Boluda from Damen Songcam. Following tests in Ha Long Bay at the end of 2024, the first three vessels were loaded onto a specialized ship in Haiphong for transport to Europe and North Africa.
With these new additions, the port of Tangier—already established as a key maritime hub—will be equipped with additional resources to manage the increasing traffic of industrial and transport ships.
At the same time, a third tugboat, the VB Cayenne, will head towards the port of Marseille-Fos. This expansion highlights Boluda’s ambition to support the growth of major port platforms along the key trade routes connecting Europe, Africa, and the rest of the world.
