Morocco and the UK Begin a Promising New Phase of Strategic Cooperation

During an official visit to Rabat, Fabian Hamilton, President of the British Group at the Inter-Parliamentary Union, stated that Morocco and the United Kingdom are entering a dynamic and promising new stage in their bilateral relationship.

Following talks between a British parliamentary delegation including members of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords and Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Hamilton emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the two nations. He described the visit as a positive step forward in boosting collaboration across multiple sectors.

Highlighting the centuries-old friendship between the two monarchies spanning more than 800 years Hamilton underscored the value of these historical bonds in building a shared future that benefits the populations of both countries, as well as Europe and Africa.

He stressed the UK’s strong commitment to enhancing cooperation with Morocco, particularly in areas such as security, the fight against organized crime, and renewable energy. He also noted potential for expanded collaboration on major infrastructure and trade initiatives, especially in connection with the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

To support this vision, Morocco and the United Kingdom signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Monday. This agreement outlines British support for Morocco’s organization of the 2030 World Cup, including technical expertise, business networks, and strategic guidance to ensure the success of the tournament.
