The latest analysis from Imperium, a media analytics and big data specialist, provides a comprehensive overview of Morocco's national media production for November 2024. The report reveals significant growth in media output, with over 160,300 articles and broadcasts recorded across all platforms, marking a 15.5% increase compared to November 2023, despite a slight 4.5% decrease from October 2024. Moroccan media maintains a robust daily production rate of 5,345 articles, averaging 223 publications per hour.
Digital media continues to assert its dominance in the Moroccan media landscape, producing approximately 127,300 articles in November 2024, accounting for 79.4% of total media output. This segment experienced remarkable growth of 21.2% compared to the previous year. National radio stations contributed 8,792 news broadcasts and programs, showing a modest 6.1% increase.
The linguistic landscape of Moroccan media remains predominantly Arabic, with 71.2% of content published in this language. French follows as the second most used language at 24.23%, while secondary languages (English, Spanish, and Amazigh) comprise 4.61% of total production. Within these secondary languages, English leads at 42%, followed by Spanish at 33% and Amazigh at 25%.
Political coverage dominated November's media agenda, generating 25,510 articles and broadcasts, representing 15.91% of total production. Key political stories included Aziz Akhannouch's address to the Chamber of Counselors (923 articles), Achraf Fayda's appointment as head of the Moroccan National Tourism Office (363 articles), and the Congolese Prime Minister's visit (254 articles). The media landscape encompasses 1,231 active platforms, including 72 print newspapers and 1,159 websites. In print media, Arabic-language publications predominate, with Le Matin du Sahara standing out as the only French-language newspaper in the top 10. In digital media, Walaw Press leads with 8,256 articles, followed by Inews.ma (3,020 articles) and Fluxpress.net (2,719 articles).
