In a significant step toward fostering cultural collaboration and igniting the burgeoning gaming industry, Morocco and France have inked a landmark partnership agreement aimed at promoting the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs), with a particular emphasis on the gaming sector. The convention was ceremoniously signed on Friday in Rabat, coinciding with the inauguration of the highly anticipated Morocco Gaming Expo.
The agreement bears the signatures of Abdelaziz El Bouzdaini, the Secretary-General of the Communication Department under the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, and Christophe Lecourtier, the Ambassador of France to Morocco. The signing unfolded in the esteemed presence of Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication.
Addressing the media, Minister Bensaid underscored the pivotal importance of this partnership in strengthening bilateral cooperation within the realm of video games. He highlighted the indispensable role of training in establishing a robust gaming industry in Morocco, as well as the necessity of incubating Moroccan startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in this dynamic sector.
"This significant partnership with the French Embassy will enable us to develop the gaming industry we aspire to establish within the Kingdom," Bensaid affirmed.
Elaborating further, the minister emphasized that this initiative aims to create incubators capable of nurturing these startups, propelling their growth to integrate into the global market and attract international investors, underscoring the paramount importance of such partnerships for Moroccan startups.
Ambassador Lecourtier commended Morocco's unwavering commitment to the gaming sector, asserting that this convention presents an opportune occasion for the two nations to pool their expertise and resources to promote innovation and creativity.
"For a long time, Minister Bensaid has been championing the cause of cultural and creative industries, and the City of Gaming, which is a magnificent project," Lecourtier stated.
The French ambassador also expressed enthusiasm for the French companies already present at the Morocco Gaming Expo, highlighting their eagerness to engage with Moroccan partners and bring numerous projects to fruition.
Furthermore, Lecourtier affirmed France's steadfast support for this initiative, emphasizing the pivotal role of training and entrepreneurship in creating added value.
As Morocco and France embark on this collaborative journey, the gaming sector stands poised to experience an unprecedented surge, igniting creativity, fostering innovation, and cultivating an ecosystem that nurtures homegrown talent while attracting global investments.
