The upcoming inauguration of Royal Air Maroc's (RAM) direct flight connecting Casablanca to Toronto is poised to significantly enhance the relationship between Africa and Canada. This new route is set to commence on December 8, operating three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays using state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Announced on August 2, the introduction of this direct flight highlights Morocco's commitment to fostering connections between the continent and North America. Souriya Otmani, Morocco's Ambassador to Canada, emphasized the potential benefits at a recent event in Toronto, stating, "This direct flight will foster new opportunities for businesspeople, academics, artists, and citizens on both sides of the Atlantic." The ambassador described this initiative as a pivotal moment in the evolving relations between Morocco and Canada, as well as with various Arab, African, and European nations, creating new avenues for cooperation and cultural exchange.

Ambassador Otmani underscored the strategic significance of Casablanca as RAM's hub, affirming Morocco's role as a vital link between continents. She articulated that the new route will not only bolster Morocco's position in global trade but also enhance RAM's expansive international network.

Nour-Eddine Ezzairi, RAM’s regional representative in Canada, echoed these sentiments, noting that the new Toronto route aligns with the airline's ambition to broaden its network and will have far-reaching implications for economic, academic, and cultural interactions. This sentiment was supported by representatives from various African communities in Toronto, including the Ghana Association of Ontario and the Nigerian Canadian Association, who expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, anticipating it will further strengthen connections between African communities in Canada and the continent.

This new direct flight to Toronto represents RAM's second route to Canada, complementing its existing services to Montreal, New York, Washington, Miami, and Sao Paulo, the latter set to resume on December 7. As the leading regional airline in Africa, RAM connects over 90 destinations, playing a crucial role in bridging Africa with the global community through its Casablanca hub.
