Tapping into Football's Power: ONMT's Drive to Showcase Morocco as a Top Destination

The Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) is strategically placing football at the forefront of its promotional efforts, recognizing its potential as a catalyst for enhancing Morocco's global appeal as a destination. This announcement came during the annual forum of the French Union of Tour Operating Companies (SETO), held in Rabat.

Practically, the ONMT aims to showcase Morocco's allure to French and international tour operators and travel influencers, spotlighting the country's prominent status as a global football powerhouse. With the national team's remarkable performances generating over 130 million interactions around Moroccan content, the ONMT's current objective is to sustain this enthusiasm on a global scale.

In June 2023, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), led by Fouzi Lekjaa, and the ONMT signed a strategic partnership agreement focusing on promoting Morocco as a destination through football from 2023 to 2030. Collaborating, the FRMF and the ONMT aim to leverage the sport as a catalyst for boosting tourism in Morocco and enhancing the Kingdom's image as the "Land of Light." These initiatives align with the momentum generated by the joint bid announcement on October 5, 2023, by d VHis Majesty King Mohamme VI for Morocco, Spain, and Portugal to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

In their pursuit of maximizing Morocco's tourism potential, the ONMT and the FRMF acknowledge football's immense influence as a vehicle for showcasing the country's rich cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and warm hospitality to a global audience. By capitalizing on the euphoria surrounding Moroccan football, they aim to establish a lasting connection between the sport and the allure of the Moroccan experience, enticing travelers worldwide to explore the wonders of this vibrant nation.

With the aim of positioning Morocco as a premier tourist destination, the ONMT is dedicated to leveraging football's universal language to captivate travelers' imaginations, creating an enduring legacy that transcends the boundaries of the game. As the journey towards 2030 unfolds, Morocco's ambitious vision of hosting the FIFA World Cup serves as a tantalizing prospect, further fueling the passion and dedication of the ONMT and the FRMF in their pursuit of positioning the country as a global tourism leader.

By embracing the power of football, Morocco's ONMT is poised to achieve a resounding victory, crafting a compelling narrative that intertwines the nation's footballing prowess with its unparalleled beauty, captivating the hearts and minds of visitors and football enthusiasts alike.
