Strategic appointments signal Morocco's administrative evolution

Morocco's Government Council has approved several high-level appointments across key ministries and institutions, marking significant changes in the nation's administrative landscape.

Samira El Malizi has been appointed as director of Morocco's National Library (BNRM), transitioning from her interim role that began in October 2024. She will manage BNRM's operations under the Cultural Department of the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication.

In the urban development sector, Mohamed Naainiaa has been named director of the Urban Agency of El Kelaa des Sraghna-Rhamna, advancing from his interim position held since October 2019. The Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social Economy saw Zohra Tazi's promotion from interim to permanent Director of Strategy and Cooperation.

The education sector received multiple appointments. Lahcen Bammou will head the Higher School of Technology in Ouarzazate within the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation. The Ministry of National Education welcomed two new officials: Moulay Youssef Azhari as Director General of Pedagogical Action, and Hsain Oujour as supervisor of the Second Chance School and Inclusive Education.

These appointments, approved under Article 92 of the Constitution during a meeting in Rabat, demonstrate the government's commitment to strengthening leadership across vital sectors including culture, urban development, tourism, and education. The appointees bring substantial experience to their respective roles, positioning them to advance their institutions' objectives and contribute to Morocco's economic growth, educational quality, and public service delivery.
