Spain and Morocco Strengthen their Bilateral Partnership

Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, praised the current momentum in bilateral relations between Spain and Morocco, describing it as “excellent.”

During a session of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Spanish Congress of Deputies, Albares expressed gratitude to Morocco for its support during the recent power outage in Spain. Thanks to Morocco’s assistance, electricity was quickly restored in several regions.

Albares also highlighted the significant progress made since a new chapter began in bilateral ties following a letter from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to King Mohammed VI. In the letter, Sánchez emphasized that Morocco’s autonomy plan for the Sahara offers the most “serious, credible, and realistic” basis for resolving the regional conflict.

Furthermore, Albares celebrated the historic record of €23 billion in trade exchanges between the two countries, a figure driven by the roadmap signed on April 7, 2022.
