Without U.S. visa approval, Philippe Jaroussky cancels his tour
French countertenor Philippe Jaroussky has been forced to cancel his North American tour after failing to obtain a U.S. work visa in time for his scheduled performances.
The internationally acclaimed classical singer was due to perform in several cities across the United States and Canada as part of his “Gelosia!” tour, accompanied by his baroque ensemble Artaserse, which he founded in 2002.
Concerts were planned in Cambridge near Boston, San Diego, and Seattle, followed by stops in Vancouver and Quebec. However, the entire tour had to be called off just days before departure due to administrative issues related to work authorization.
In a message shared on social media, Jaroussky expressed regret over the cancellation, addressing his audiences across North America. He explained that visa-related complications made it impossible to proceed with the scheduled performances.
The artist also stated that efforts would be made to reschedule the tour in the future, thanking fans for their understanding and continued support.
The cancellation highlights the administrative challenges international artists sometimes face when organizing tours across different countries, particularly in the post-pandemic cultural landscape.
