Nearly three tonnes of cannabis resin seized in Casablanca
Two thousand nine hundred and sixty kilograms of cannabis resin were seized near Casablanca’s international airport during a police operation that targeted a suspected drug trafficking network. The vehicle carrying the shipment was found abandoned close to the Mohammed V airport area after a high-risk chase involving multiple security units.
The operation began in the Benslimane region, where investigators tracked a car suspected of transporting a large quantity of narcotics. The driver attempted to evade arrest, including driving against traffic on a highway before abandoning the vehicle near the airport perimeter. Inside the car, officers discovered 75 tightly packed bales hidden within the interior.
The seizure points to a large-scale trafficking structure capable of moving multi-tonne shipments through coordinated routes. The volume of resin suggests logistical planning involving several actors, with established supply and distribution links. Authorities are treating the case as part of a broader criminal network rather than an isolated incident.
Investigations continue under judicial supervision to identify the driver who fled the scene and to map the full chain behind the shipment. Security services are also working to determine the intended destination of the cargo and the support network that enabled its transport across multiple zones without interception.
