Morocco strengthens military and industrial cooperation with Turkey

Rabat, December 27, 2025 — Morocco is reinforcing its military and industrial cooperation with Turkey as part of its strategy to enhance technological autonomy and strengthen its defense capabilities. This dynamic was highlighted by a recent visit to Morocco by a Turkish delegation from Emtekno Space & Defense.

Specialized in defense technologies and space systems, Emtekno presented a range of advanced solutions intended for naval and defense applications. The company positions itself not only as a supplier but also as a long-term strategic partner, promoting technology transfer, local industrial development, and operational cooperation.

During meetings in Rabat, Emtekno representatives held discussions with senior officials from the Royal Moroccan Navy to assess potential areas of collaboration aligned with Morocco’s strategic needs. The talks focused on integrated operational solutions, co-development opportunities, and technical support frameworks.

Morocco is increasingly seeking partnerships that go beyond the simple acquisition of military equipment. Authorities aim to develop domestic defense industries through skills transfer and local production, reinforcing national sovereignty and positioning the country as a strategic actor in Africa.

This cooperation reflects a broader convergence of interests between Morocco and Turkey and fits within a pragmatic South–South partnership. It also builds on previous defense collaborations, including Morocco’s acquisition of Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 drones, which symbolized growing trust in Turkish defense expertise.
