40th military service contingent takes oath in Casablanca

A formal ceremony was held on Thursday at the 1st Naval Base in Casablanca to mark the completion of the initial training phase of the 40th Military Service Contingent.

The event, presided over by the Navy Captain Major commanding the Central Maritime Sector, brought together senior naval officers and military officials. During the ceremony, nearly 700 conscripts, including around 200 young women, took the military oath, symbolizing their commitment at the end of the four-month Basic Common Training phase.

This first stage of training focused on physical preparation, civic education, and military discipline, aiming to provide conscripts with the essential foundations of military life. Officials highlighted the importance of this phase as a cornerstone of the overall military service process.

In his address, the commanding officer praised the conscripts for their dedication and emphasized that the oath represents a lasting commitment to His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces. He encouraged the recruits to maintain discipline and motivation during the next phase of their service.

Following the ceremony, which included a military parade and the raising of the national flag, conscripts were granted a 15-day leave. Upon their return, they will be assigned to various units and training centers of the Royal Armed Forces to undergo eight months of specialized professional training.

The 40th Military Service Contingent includes more than 20,000 conscripts nationwide, among them over 2,000 women, reflecting growing female participation in Morocco’s military service program.
