Casablanca highlights its tourism attractiveness drivers

Casablanca is strengthening its position on the tourism map by unveiling a series of strategic levers designed to boost the attractiveness of Morocco’s economic capital and its surrounding areas. The Regional Tourism Council (CRT) of Casablanca-Settat recently presented this vision during the African Tourism Forum.

According to the CRT, the region plays a central role in national tourism priorities, with more than one hundred development projects and around two hundred identified points of interest listed in the national tourism project database. Contrary to common perceptions, Casablanca and its hinterland are emerging as key contributors to the country’s growing tourism momentum.

The regional tourism offer is structured around two main pillars: city break tourism and business tourism. For short urban stays, the roadmap includes dozens of ready-to-launch projects covering a wide range of activities. These include innovative accommodation concepts, themed retail spaces, cultural and sporting entertainment, urban leisure facilities and modern mobility services.

Planned initiatives range from next-generation sightseeing buses and immersive photo studios to electric mobility services, eco-friendly shuttles, interactive art galleries, culinary workshops and urban cruises. The objective is to transform Casablanca into a destination for short yet memorable stays, combining creativity, innovation and hospitality.

Business tourism represents the second strategic segment, with several projects focused on conference infrastructure, specialized services and complementary experiences. These initiatives aim to meet the expectations of professional travelers seeking efficiency, comfort and meaningful engagement beyond meetings.

Beyond the city itself, rural tourism is gaining attention as a strategic asset. The wider Casablanca-Settat region offers a significant number of rural and natural points of interest, particularly in coastal and peripheral provinces. Ecotourism, community-based tourism and the promotion of local know-how are seen as promising areas for future development.

As part of this approach, the CRT is also working on a flagship initiative aimed at identifying the top experiences in Casablanca. The goal is to convert static attractions into accessible, interactive and market-ready experiences, some of which will be supported by digital tools to appeal to younger, connected audiences.

By combining urban dynamism, corporate tourism, rural potential and experiential innovation, Casablanca-Settat seeks to position itself as a comprehensive, inclusive and forward-looking destination.
