Morocco's role in Africa's economic integration
The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) has highlighted Morocco's potential to significantly contribute to the economic integration of Africa through its robust fiscal policies and strategic infrastructure investments.
In a tweet following a meeting on Monday between Riyad Mezzour, the Minister of Industry and Trade, and Claver Gatete, the UNECA Executive Secretary, the organization pointed to key investments. These include developments related to the Tangier port, fertilizers, energy, and the automotive sector.
Furthermore, the UNECA noted Morocco's capacity to enhance gas exchanges, promote electric mobility, and bolster maritime transport.
It is noteworthy that this meeting took place during the 57th session of the UNECA and the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, which Morocco currently presides over.
Morocco was unanimously elected to chair the 57th session of the UNECA and will host the 58th session of the conference in March 2026.
