Morocco lifts visa requirements for Albanian citizens

Morocco has officially introduced a visa exemption for Albanian citizens, effective Saturday, August 15, 2026, in a move aimed at facilitating travel and strengthening bilateral ties between Rabat and Tirana.

Under the new arrangement, holders of Albanian passports can travel to Morocco for short stays without obtaining a visa in advance. The measure follows an agreement reached between Morocco and Albania in March 2025 and marks a new step toward simplifying travel between the two countries.

The decision reflects the growing efforts by Morocco and Albania to deepen their bilateral relationship and encourage greater mobility between their populations. By removing the requirement for a prior visa, both sides are expected to create additional opportunities for tourism, short visits and people-to-people exchanges.

The new arrangement could also contribute to stronger economic and commercial links. Easier travel may facilitate contacts between companies, investors and professionals while encouraging the development of new partnerships in sectors of mutual interest.

For Albanian visitors, however, visa-free entry does not mean that all entry requirements have been removed. Travellers must continue to comply with Moroccan border regulations, permitted lengths of stay and other applicable legal requirements.

The measure is also expected to support tourism by making Morocco more accessible to Albanian travellers seeking short-term visits. Increased visitor flows could benefit hotels, tourism operators, airlines, restaurants and other businesses connected to the travel sector.

Beyond tourism, the visa exemption represents a practical instrument for strengthening communication between Moroccan and Albanian institutions and communities. Easier mobility can contribute to more frequent exchanges and encourage cooperation in economic, cultural and social fields.

The implementation of the agreement therefore marks another step in the development of Morocco-Albania relations. By facilitating short-term travel, Rabat and Tirana are seeking to create a more accessible framework for exchanges while opening the way for broader cooperation between the two countries.
