Global alliance convenes in Rabat to advance two-state solution

The fifth meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution commenced on Tuesday in Rabat, under the theme "Maintaining momentum in the peace process: lessons learned, successes, and prospects."

This significant gathering, organized by the Kingdom of Morocco in partnership with the Netherlands, features delegations from over 50 countries and international organizations committed to the two-state solution.

The meeting aims to assess the current state of peace efforts in the Middle East, highlight notable achievements, and draw relevant lessons to establish concrete measures within a precise timeline to rejuvenate the two-state solution. Discussions will also focus on building the Palestinian economy. The agenda includes three thematic sessions addressing the impact of peace processes in the Middle East, support for the governance structures of the Palestinian state, and the economic foundations of peace in the region.

With the goal of fostering a platform for projects, initiatives, and achievements that support the vision of sustainable peace in the Middle East, this meeting will conclude with concrete political recommendations aimed at bolstering diplomatic efforts and enhancing conditions conducive to realizing the two-state solution.

The outcomes of this meeting will contribute to the upcoming high-level conference on the two-state solution, scheduled to take place at the United Nations headquarters in New York in June 2025.

Launched during the high-level week of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2024, the Global Alliance serves as a diplomatic platform dedicated to the effective revival of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. This fifth meeting follows four previous gatherings held in Riyadh, Brussels, Oslo, and Cairo.
