African Handball Championship: Morocco learns its group opponents

The draw for the 2026 African Men’s Handball Championship, held Friday evening in Kigali, placed Morocco in Group D alongside Cape Verde, Benin, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Host nation Rwanda will compete in Group A, where it will face Zambia, Nigeria, and Algeria.

The tournament is scheduled to take place in the Rwandan capital from 21 to 31 January 2026. The top five teams will secure qualification for the 2027 World Championship in Germany.

  • Group A: Algeria – Nigeria – Rwanda – Zambia
  • Group B: Egypt – Angola – Gabon – Uganda
  • Group C: Tunisia – Guinea – Cameroon – Kenya
  • Group D: Cape Verde – Morocco – DR Congo – Benin
