Morocco has taken a significant step forward in modernizing its public transportation system, with taxi drivers across the country now equipped with innovative digital tablets that are revolutionizing the taxi experience.

The company behind this transformation is Itechia, which recently launched the "Taxi Sahbi" (Taxi My Friend) tablet, a comprehensive platform that offers a range of digital services to both taxi drivers and passengers. The tablet provides drivers with access to a variety of applications, including telephone, GPS, electronic wallets, and fare collection tools, enabling them to offer a more efficient and seamless service.

"It allows drivers to have access to a number of applications, including telephone calls and GPS, applications linked to electronic wallets, and applications for fare collection," explained Fahd Mekouar, the Managing Director of Itechia. "It's also a medium that allows advertisers to reach a new audience."

The introduction of the Taxi Sahbi tablet has been enthusiastically embraced by taxi drivers across Morocco, with hundreds already equipped with the device. The company aims to expand the rollout to other cities in the country and across the African continent.

"We're in the process of deploying them in several cities. We are currently present in Casablanca and Rabat, and are in the process of rolling out to cities such as Tangiers and Marrakech," said Nadia, an employee at Itechia.

In addition to the tablet, Itechia has also developed a mobile application that allows passengers to efficiently manage their transportation needs. "It's very intuitive," said one customer, "It saves me time, as I can call the taxi even before I leave the office."

Taxi drivers have also welcomed the new technology, citing the numerous advantages it brings to their work. "There are several advantages, like free calls. There's also access to the internet, which means I can get an idea of traffic and any obstacles, such as traffic jams. Passengers can also use a barcode to give us feedback on how their journey went," explained one taxi driver.

The introduction of the Taxi Sahbi tablet and the accompanying mobile application has significantly improved the efficiency and transparency of the taxi service in Morocco, providing a better experience for both passengers and drivers. This digital transformation is poised to redefine the transportation habits of Moroccans, ushering in a new era of convenience and connectivity.
