As the evening of Thursday, January 4, 2024, approaches, the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) predicts a shift in weather conditions in Morocco. A moist northwesterly current is expected to bring about the passage of rain-bearing clouds, affecting the northern and eastern regions of the country. Consequently, there is a possibility of light precipitation reaching the central areas.

Providing insights into the recent stable weather conditions in Morocco, the DGM shared data with the press. It disclosed that the weather has remained cloudy, with intermittent showers expected in the northern and central regions, the Mediterranean coastline, as well as the High and Middle Atlas mountains, where snowfall is anticipated.

Moreover, the DGM offered an explanation for the stability of weather conditions in Morocco in recent days. It clarified that the weather has been stable and cold during the nights, resulting in local frost formation in the mornings and evenings in the mountains, eastern regions, and inland plains of the country.

According to the same data, this situation is considered normal during winter, a period known in agricultural heritage as "lyali," which represents the peak of the cold season.

The DGM attributes the recent spell of stable weather to the persistence of the Azores High, an anticyclone centered over the Azores Islands that extends its influence to the Kingdom of Morocco.
