As Morocco gears up for the 7th General Census, the High Commission for Planning (HCP) introduces strategic measures to enhance the experience of census workers.

In its commitment to transparency for the 2024 National Population and Housing Census, the HCP is implementing initiatives focused on worker compensation, safety, and transportation.

Scheduled from September 1 to 30, the census aims to provide a detailed snapshot of Morocco’s demographic and socio-economic landscape.

Compensation for census workers will be disbursed via bank transfers, accommodating those with bank accounts and users of services like Poste Cash, Cash Plus, Fawry, and Garant Cash. Payments for training sessions (August 15-27) will be processed within 48 hours of completion, and payments for the collection period (September 1-30) will follow within 48 hours after concluding and returning electronic tablets.

Insurance coverage for census workers includes medical and pharmaceutical expenses, hospitalization costs, and compensation for permanent disability or death, ensuring immediate medical assistance in emergencies. A 24/7 contact center supports injury reports and offers swift assistance.

To facilitate data collection, the HCP, in collaboration with regional officials, will provide transportation for workers in rural and suburban areas, using state-owned and rented vehicles. The Ministry of Interior, National Security, and Royal Gendarmerie play crucial roles in safeguarding workers and securing data collection devices.

A highlight of RGPH 2024 is the use of advanced technology, including a mobile geographic information system (GIS) and high-resolution satellite imagery, to map constructions and economic establishments. The national territory is divided into approximately 38,000 census districts to prevent omissions and double counting, ensuring comprehensive coverage and accuracy.
