Trump says Iran faces severe economic turmoil as Washington weighs three strategies

US President Donald Trump has described Iran’s economic situation as being in severe disarray, while outlining three possible approaches for dealing with Tehran as Washington continues to apply economic and political pressure.

In an interview with Real America’s Voice, Trump claimed that inflation in Iran had reached 300% and that the Iranian currency had lost much of its value. He also argued that the country’s financial difficulties had become so serious that the government was struggling to meet its obligations, including the payment of military personnel.

Trump further said that the United States controls what he described as a significant amount of Iranian funds and assets. He presented the restrictions imposed on Tehran as part of a broader pressure campaign aimed at limiting Iran’s access to international financial markets.

According to Trump, Washington is considering three broad options. The first involves continuing to monitor Iran’s economic and political deterioration. The second would involve military action against Iranian targets, while the third consists of maintaining economic pressure through sanctions and other financial measures.

Trump indicated that economic pressure remains an important element of the current US approach, regardless of whether Washington ultimately considers other options. His remarks come amid continued tensions between the United States and Iran and uncertainty over the possibility of renewed negotiations.

The US president also addressed Washington’s relationship with Israel, describing what he characterized as a major shift in American political dynamics over recent decades. He referred to the influence traditionally associated with pro-Israel political organizations in Washington and suggested that the relationship has undergone significant changes.

Trump also turned to domestic US politics, warning about the potential consequences of the upcoming midterm elections. He argued that an electoral victory by his political opponents could lead to major changes in national policy and security.

Trump’s comments underline the complex combination of economic sanctions, diplomatic pressure and military options surrounding US policy toward Iran. The effectiveness of the economic measures and the future direction of relations between Washington and Tehran are likely to remain major issues in international politics.
