Strong Winds and Dust Storms Forecasted for Eid Weekend in Morocco
Meteorological Alert Issued for Several Provinces
Morocco is gearing up for a turbulent Eid Al Adha weekend as the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has issued an orange alert for strong winds and dust storms across multiple regions. The warning spans from Friday to Saturday, predicting wind speeds between 75-85 km/h along with local dust storms in the provinces of Ouarzazate, Zagora, Tata, Tinghir, and Errachidia.
On Saturday, the conditions are expected to intensify, affecting additional provinces including Midelt, Taourirt, Guercif, Boulemane, Tinghir, Zagora, Errachidia, Figuig, Berkane, Jerada, and Oujda-Angad. Wind gusts in these areas could escalate to 80-90 km/h.
This weather alert follows a period marked by significant temperature fluctuations, contrasting sharply with the more stable conditions observed at the same time last year.
Residents and travelers in the affected regions are strongly advised to stay updated with local weather forecasts and take necessary precautions. The DGM’s orange level of vigilance highlights a high risk, underscoring the importance of staying informed and prepared for any sudden changes in weather conditions.
As Morocco faces this spell of unpredictable weather, the call for caution extends to both residents and visitors. Staying proactive and informed will be essential for ensuring safety during this period of heightened meteorological activity.
