Spanish train crash: Sánchez vows full transparency and declares national mourning
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has pledged to uncover the full truth behind the deadly train accident that struck southern Spain, killing at least 39 people and leaving dozens injured.
Speaking from Adamuz, the Andalusian town near where the collision occurred, Sánchez assured the public that authorities would act with “absolute transparency” to determine the causes of the tragedy. He emphasized that all necessary investigations would be conducted to establish responsibility and prevent similar incidents in the future.
The head of government also announced three days of national mourning, set to begin at midnight and continue through Thursday, in tribute to the victims and in solidarity with their families.
The crash, which involved high-speed trains, has shocked the country and raised renewed concerns over rail safety. Emergency services, medical teams, and investigators remain mobilized as Spain grapples with one of its deadliest rail disasters in recent years.
