Seven killed in Qatar military helicopter crash including three Turkish nationals
A military helicopter crash in Qatar has claimed the lives of seven individuals, including three Turkish nationals, according to Ministry of National Defense of Türkiye.
The incident occurred during a training mission carried out under the framework of joint military cooperation between Türkiye and Qatar. Initial findings suggest that the aircraft, operated by the Qatari Armed Forces, went down at sea on Friday evening due to a technical failure.
Among the victims were four members of the Qatari Armed Forces, one Turkish soldier, and two civilian technicians from ASELSAN, a major defense contractor involved in military technology and systems.
Search and rescue teams were quickly deployed following the crash. Authorities later confirmed that both the wreckage and the bodies of the victims had been recovered.
Despite the tragedy, officials emphasized that ongoing defense cooperation and coordination between Türkiye and Qatar will continue in line with existing agreements.
An official investigation has been launched by Qatari authorities to determine the exact cause of the accident. Further details are expected once the inquiry progresses.
In a statement, the Turkish Defense Ministry expressed condolences to the families of the victims and to the armed forces of both nations, highlighting the close ties between the two countries.
