Seres joins BMW and Mercedes-Benz as equal shareholder in Chinese joint venture
Chinese automaker Seres has announced that it will become an equal shareholder in a fast-charging joint venture in China involving German carmakers BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The move marks a new stage of cooperation in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle sector.
According to an official statement released on Friday, Seres will join the partnership as an equal stakeholder, strengthening collaboration on electric mobility and charging solutions in the Chinese market. The company’s electric vehicle brand Aito is expected to play a supporting role in the development of the joint venture’s charging infrastructure, known as IONCHI.
The partnership reflects growing efforts among global automakers to expand electric vehicle networks and improve fast-charging access in China, the world’s largest EV market. Industry analysts see this collaboration as part of a broader trend of strategic alliances aimed at accelerating the transition to sustainable transportation.
