Salé: Police inspector shoots woman with service weapon, Investigation underway
The judicial police in Salé have opened an investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor after a police inspector fatally shot a woman using his service weapon while off duty.
According to preliminary findings, the incident occurred at the officer’s private residence, where the victim was reportedly present at the time of the shooting. The woman sustained a fatal gunshot wound fired from the officer’s standard-issue pistol.
Specialized forensic and technical police teams were immediately dispatched to the scene to conduct ballistic tests and collect physical evidence. The victim’s body was transferred to the hospital morgue for an autopsy to clarify the exact cause of death.
The suspect has been detained for questioning as investigators seek to determine the motive behind the shooting—whether it stemmed from a personal dispute, premeditation, or negligent use of a service firearm.
The investigation is being closely monitored by the Rabat-Salé public prosecutor’s office, amid strong local reactions to the tragedy.
