Saint-Gobain Sekurit Maroc and Nareva sign a landmark wind energy supply agreement
In a significant step towards sustainability, Saint-Gobain Sekurit Maroc has signed a long-term agreement with Nareva for the supply of wind-generated electricity. The deal will provide 35 GWh per year, covering 90% of the energy needs of the Kenitra production site and significantly reducing its greenhouse gas emissions.
The agreement, set to take effect in March 2025, marks a first for Saint-Gobain in Morocco. Over its 20-year duration, the partnership is expected to prevent the emission of approximately 25,000 tonnes of CO2 annually. This collaboration reflects Saint-Gobain’s commitment to long-term sustainability in the region and aligns with its broader decarbonization goals.
Further reinforcing its green energy strategy, Saint-Gobain Maroc plans to install rooftop solar panels at the Kenitra site by mid-2025. This addition will increase the share of renewable electricity to approximately 95%, positioning the facility as a leader in sustainable industrial practices.
This initiative is part of the company’s broader environmental transformation efforts and aligns with its global objective of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Through investments in renewable energy and decarbonization, Saint-Gobain reaffirms its commitment to fostering a low-carbon economy in the markets where it operates.
