Rubio warns U.S. could pursue “Another Way” if Iran talks collapse

Marco Rubio stated that the United States is prepared to consider “another way” of dealing with Iran if ongoing diplomatic negotiations fail to produce an agreement.

Speaking to journalists during a visit to India, Rubio emphasized that Washington still prefers diplomacy and is willing to continue negotiations in hopes of reaching a stable and credible deal. However, he also warned that the United States is prepared to explore alternative options should discussions collapse.

The negotiations are centered on several sensitive issues, including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s nuclear activities, and the possible release of frozen Iranian financial assets held abroad.

According to U.S. officials, preliminary progress has reportedly been made on some aspects of the discussions. American representatives believe Iran has shown willingness to reopen maritime routes in the Strait of Hormuz and engage in time-limited negotiations regarding its nuclear program.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most strategically important waterways because a significant share of global oil and gas exports passes through the narrow corridor. Disruptions in the area have contributed to uncertainty in international energy markets in recent months.

U.S. President Donald Trump recently declared that maritime restrictions on Iranian shipping would remain in place until a formal agreement is reached and officially signed. Trump also stated that negotiations should proceed carefully to avoid a fragile or incomplete settlement.

Iranian authorities have not yet issued an official response to Rubio’s latest comments. However, Iranian media close to the Revolutionary Guards indicated that disagreements persist, particularly regarding Tehran’s request for access to frozen financial resources.

Despite ongoing tensions, optimism surrounding a possible diplomatic breakthrough has contributed to fluctuations in global oil prices. Analysts nevertheless warn that the broader energy crisis and geopolitical instability in the Middle East continue to pose serious risks to the global economy.

Observers believe the coming days could prove decisive in determining whether diplomacy can ease tensions between Washington and Tehran or whether the conflict could move toward a more confrontational phase.
