Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles: Empowering Women and Advancing Sustainability
The renowned Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles is set to return from April 12-27, reaffirming its commitment to promoting women's empowerment and environmental stewardship. This year's edition promises exhilarating competition as 400 "gazelles," including a proud contingent of 21 from Morocco, traverse the country's desert landscapes in various vehicle classes.
In its 33rd iteration, the rally will bring together 400 all-female crews from 17 nations for a unique adventure centered on perseverance, strategy, and feminine strength. Ranging from ages 21 to 66 and representing diverse backgrounds, these competitors are ready to tackle the challenges ahead with unwavering determination.
Since its establishment in 1988 by Dominique Serra, the rally has been instrumental in breaking down prejudices and stereotypes through its inspiring platform. Beyond being a competition, it offers a profoundly human experience for women. Moreover, the Heart of Gazelles charity, founded in 2001, actively supports local populations through various initiatives, including medical, agricultural, and educational projects, thereby contributing to sustainable development in the regions visited.
The rally's schedule is well-defined, commencing with technical and administrative checks on April 12 in Monaco, followed by the official start the next day. Subsequently, participants will journey to Morocco to embark on thrilling stages in destinations such as Erfoud, Essaouira, and beyond.
Dominique Serra, the rally director, has expressed excitement for this upcoming edition, highlighting its embodiment of core values surrounding environmental protection, social responsibility, and women's empowerment. Notably, a new electric vehicle category has been introduced, emphasizing the rally's ongoing commitment to innovation and environmentally conscious practices.
