Ridouan Taghi, the notorious Moroccan-Dutch crime lord, has been sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for his involvement in a decade-long spree of assassinations, murder plots, and large-scale drug trafficking.

Taghi, once Europe's most wanted man, was convicted alongside two other senior members of his organization on charges including six contract killings, four attempted murders, and plans to eliminate additional targets. Three other defendants received sentences ranging from 15 to 29 years behind bars, while the remaining 11 suspects faced punishments from 21 months to over 23 years.

As the alleged leader of the infamous Moroccan mafia network known as "Mocro Maffia," Taghi eluded authorities for years while expanding his criminal empire across Europe. He was finally apprehended in the United Arab Emirates in December 2019 following a collaborative international effort, with crucial intelligence provided by Moroccan law enforcement leading to his capture in the Gulf nation.

Extradited back to the Netherlands to stand trial, Taghi faced charges related to narcotics trafficking and a series of gangland assassinations, including the high-profile 2019 shooting at a cafe in Marrakesh that resulted in the death of a medical student and injuries to another.

Today's life sentence ensures that the notorious mob boss, often dubbed the "Ndrangheta of the Netherlands," will spend the rest of his life behind bars, marking the definitive end to over a decade of terror inflicted by Taghi and his ruthless criminal organization.
