Nomad Unveils Stylish New Wireless Charger

Accessory maker Nomad has announced its first charger compatible with the high-power Qi2 wireless standard. The Nomad Stand Qi2 Charger promises speeds up to 15W for compatible iPhones and other devices in an attractive glass-and-metal design.

Priced at $100, the charger works with MagSafe and universal Qi2 phones while maintaining the build quality for which Nomad is known. It includes a 2m USB-C cable but requires a separate 20W power adapter.

Qi2 represents the latest iteration of open charging standard Qi and shares similarities with Apple's proprietary MagSafe system. Both utilize alignment magnets and support 15W output, a boost over older 7.5W Qi phones. As more handsets add Qi2, charging should become faster and more consistent across brands.

Nomad is one of the first companies to launch a Qi2 charger and price it competitively. At $10 less than its similar MagSafe Stand, the new charger offers multi-device compatibility future-proofed for growing Qi2 adoption.

Though not yet available for purchase, the Nomad Stand Qi2 Charger will hit stores "in the coming weeks" according to the company. As Apple expands Qi2 compatibility and CES unveils more options, consumers can expect a growing selection of high-powered wireless chargers from brands like Nomad leading the innovation. With sleek looks and speedy charging, its Stand could be an attractive choice.
