Nokia Launches Advanced 5G Innovation Hub in Morocco, Boosting Regional Tech Development
Nokia has established its first Innovation Center in Sale, Morocco, marking a significant advancement in digital technology infrastructure across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). The facility, unveiled in the presence of Morocco's Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Ghita Mezzour, represents a strategic investment in the region's technological future.
The Nokia Innovation Center (NIC) showcases the company's comprehensive Network Infrastructure portfolio, featuring advanced Fixed Networks, IP, and Optical Networks technologies. This initiative directly supports Morocco's Digital Morocco 2030 strategy, which aims to enhance digital capabilities and accelerate 5G adoption throughout the region.
During the inauguration, Minister Mezzour highlighted the center's strategic importance: "This center demonstrates Morocco's capacity to attract premier global tech companies and foster innovation. It strengthens our position as a regional digital hub while advancing local talent development and 5G preparedness."
The facility stands out as the first of its kind in the Middle East and Africa, offering comprehensive testing capabilities for next-generation network solutions. Its scope encompasses various critical technologies, from optical transport to fiber solutions, with particular emphasis on 5G mobile backhaul and data center security applications.
Beyond its technical infrastructure, the center will serve as an educational platform for developing local engineering talent. Nokia's commitment includes providing certification programs and implementing Gen-AI tools for hands-on training, specifically targeting students from Moroccan universities and engineering institutions.
Pierre Chaume, Vice President of Nokia's Network Infrastructure for Africa, emphasized the center's dual purpose: "This Innovation Center will support our EMEA region customers while playing a crucial role in Morocco's digital ecosystem, strengthening local expertise and contributing to the nation's technological advancement."
