New Car Sales in Morocco Decrease by 3.09% in March 2024

New car sales in Morocco reached 35,680 units by the end of March 2024, marking a 3.09% decrease compared to the same period in 2023, according to monthly statistics from the Association of Automobile Importers in Morocco (AIVAM).

Breaking down the numbers by segment, the registration of new passenger vehicles (PV) amounted to 31,741 units, down by 5.97%, while the registration of light commercial vehicles (LCV) totaled 3,939 units, marking a significant increase of 28.77%, as reported by the same source.

"Dacia" leads the PV segment with a market share of 28.43%, accounting for 9,024 new registrations by the end of March 2024, followed by Renault with 4,756 new units sold (a market share of 14.98%), Hyundai (2,658 units and 8.37% market share), and Opel (1,788 vehicles and a market share of 5.63%).

In the light commercial vehicles (LCV) category, Renault saw an 84.62% increase in sales, reaching 1,104 units (28.03% market share), while Ford experienced a staggering 211.9% surge in sales, reaching 524 units (13.3% market share), as highlighted by AIVAM.

Regarding sales of premium cars, Audi sold 1,120 units by the end of March, capturing a market share of 3.53%, surpassing BMW (854 vehicles and 2.69% market share) and Mercedes (762 units with a market share of 2.4%).

These statistics shed light on the dynamics of the automotive market in Morocco, showcasing the performance of different brands and segments amid changing consumer preferences and economic conditions.
