Morocco's Tourism Booms, Welcoming Record-Breaking Visitors
Morocco's deserts are witnessing a surge in footprints as the country's tourism industry revels in extraordinary growth. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Tourism, over 5.9 million visitors have graced Morocco's shores by May 2024, marking a staggering 15% increase compared to the same period last year.
This upward trend shows no signs of abating, with May alone welcoming an impressive 1.3 million tourists, an 18% leap from the previous year. The ministry's data vividly illustrates Morocco's enduring allure, captivating travelers from near and far.
Leading this remarkable renaissance are foreign visitors, constituting a significant 56% of total arrivals. Their presence has surged by 17% during the first five months of 2024, underscoring Morocco's global appeal. Simultaneously, the country's diaspora communities have also played a pivotal role, with a 13% rise in visits from Moroccans residing abroad, highlighting the nation's deep-rooted cultural heritage.
Fatim-Zahra Ammor, the Minister of Tourism, expressed pride as she announced the figures, stating, "The influx of an additional 772,000 tourists in just five months is a remarkable achievement for our tourism sector." Her statement reflects the collaborative efforts that have driven this progress, acknowledging industry professionals and partners for their dedication.
Looking ahead to the peak summer season, the minister exudes confidence, asserting that meticulously planned promotions, air travel options, and hospitality experiences will ensure an exceptional journey for every visitor. "The momentum in our tourism industry is undeniable, and we approach the future with unwavering determination," she declared.
