Morocco strengthens defense ties with U.S. amid strategic cooperation talks
Morocco’s Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration, Abdeltif Loudyi, received Bryan J. Ellis, the United States Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for African Affairs, on Monday, accompanied by a high-level delegation visiting Morocco for a working visit.
During the meeting, both officials praised the longstanding ties between Morocco and the United States and highlighted the strength of bilateral military cooperation, according to a statement from the Moroccan National Defense Administration.
The discussion also focused on deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries, framed by the Morocco-U.S. defense cooperation roadmap 2020-2030, signed in Rabat on October 2, 2020.
Minister Loudyi welcomed the U.S. position in supporting Morocco’s sovereignty over its entire territory and emphasized Morocco’s role in regional stability through South-South cooperation and initiatives promoted under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, portraying the kingdom as a key actor in peace and security in its neighborhood.
Deputy Assistant Secretary Ellis, for his part, underscored Morocco’s pivotal role in promoting stability amid regional security challenges and recognized the country’s efforts in driving reforms and strengthening its influence as a regional hub for peace and security.
