Morocco showcases public-private partnership model at New York summit

Morocco presented its innovative public-private partnership (PPP) model on Sunday during the “Public-Private Partnership Summit for Change” in New York. The high-profile event, held just before the UN General Assembly’s high-level week, brought together global business leaders and senior government officials to explore how such partnerships can drive growth and innovation.

Highlighting Morocco’s unique approach

Addressing the summit, Morocco’s Ambassador to the US, Youssef Amrani, emphasized the foundational principles of Morocco’s PPP model, which he described as being “built on credibility, decisive action, and unwavering commitment to promoting inclusive growth.” He underscored the private sector’s role as not just a partner but a key engine in Morocco’s national development strategy.

Amrani noted that the country’s structural reforms, initiated under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, have fostered an optimal environment for collaboration between government and enterprises. These reforms include attractive tax incentives, competitive industrial clusters, and robust guarantees for investment protection.

“Morocco today stands out as a natural platform for hosting international companies," he stated, highlighting the country’s geographical proximity to Europe, strategic access to the Atlantic, and its role as a gateway to Africa.

Global leaders and African connectivity

The summit also featured prominent participants such as the presidents of Togo and Sierra Leone, African businessman Patrice Motsepe, and Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. These global figures engaged in strategic dialogues about strengthening public-private partnerships as catalysts for economic progress.

Amrani emphasized Morocco’s growing role on the African continent, describing it as an ideal base for establishing a strong presence in Africa. He highlighted Morocco’s dual advantage of geographical proximity to Europe and its integration into Africa’s dynamic markets.

A vision of stability and opportunity

Amrani concluded by emphasizing Morocco’s ability to merge political vision, institutional commitment, and entrepreneurial dynamism. He described the country as a stabilizing force in a rapidly changing world, offering opportunities for those seeking to collaborate in building shared prosperity.

“Morocco presents itself as a land of opportunity, where clarity of vision and trust underpin its partnerships with the global community,” the ambassador stated.
