Morocco Shines the Spotlight on Tangier and Ouarzazate at the 44th International Tourism Fair

The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) is set to make a captivating appearance at the highly anticipated 44th International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid from January 24-28. This year, the spotlight is on the enchanting cities of Tangier and Ouarzazate, as the ONMT, under the distinguished leadership of Adel El Fakir, Director General of the ONMT, leads an extensive delegation comprising representatives from both the public and private sectors. FITUR is renowned as a crucial event on the global trade fair calendar, and this year's edition promises to be extraordinary.

The grand affair will witness the presence of key players in the tourism industry from the Iberian markets. A remarkable assembly of approximately 150 tourism professionals from every corner of Morocco, along with the esteemed national airline, Royal Air Maroc, will grace the event. Tangier and Ouarzazate will take center stage within a dedicated 130-square meter space, meticulously designed to showcase the unique virtues and immense potential for development possessed by these two captivating cities.

At FITUR, the Moroccan Trade Office will unveil its groundbreaking concept of the Morocco Pavilion, an innovation recently introduced in London. This awe-inspiring pavilion, strategically positioned and featuring a contemporary layout, perfectly captures the essence of Morocco as an authentic and outward-looking destination. It harmoniously aligns with the visionary implementation of the "Morocco - Land of Light" brand.

According to the ONMT, the Spanish market is poised to spearhead the growth and resurgence of tourist influx into Morocco in 2023. A staggering 2.8 million Spanish tourists ventured to Morocco by the end of November 2023, representing a remarkable 38% increase compared to the previous year.

Furthermore, air capacity has witnessed a commendable 14% surge this winter in 2023-24, with summer 2024 projections indicating an additional 8% boost. Promisingly, new air services are set to commence in April, including the highly anticipated direct routes connecting Zaragoza to Fez, Zaragoza to Ouarzazate, Murcia to Marrakech, and Tenerife to Marrakesh. These developments are poised to enhance travel convenience and connectivity between the two nations, further fueling the tourism industry's vitality.

As the 44th International Tourism Fair unfurls its vibrant tapestry in Madrid, the spotlight shines brightly on Tangier and Ouarzazate. These two captivating cities, with their rich cultural heritage and immense potential, beckon discerning travelers to embark on an unforgettable journey through the majestic landscapes of Morocco.
