Morocco's Steadfast Support Bolsters Palestinian Ties

In a recent statement to the press, Mahmoud Al Habbash, presidential adviser to the Palestinian Authority, expressed his satisfaction with the robust bilateral relations between Morocco and Palestine. Al Habbash emphasized that strengthening the deep-rooted Moroccan-Palestinian fraternal bonds and advancing the Palestinian cause "has always been a priority in Morocco's foreign policy."

The adviser highlighted the ongoing communication between King Mohammed VI of Morocco and President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine, underscoring the significance of this high-level dialogue in maintaining strong ties between the two nations.

Morocco's stance on the Palestinian issue has remained consistent, advocating for an independent Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital. The North African nation has not hesitated to voice its concerns over the actions of the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in Gaza, issuing multiple statements condemning the ongoing military campaign targeting civilians in the enclave.

In response to the escalating crisis, Rabat has called for an immediate ceasefire to halt the military operations. The Moroccan populace has also demonstrated its solidarity with Palestinians through massive protests since October 7, urging their government to sever diplomatic relations with Israel.

The kingdom's support for the Palestinian cause has garnered recognition from various quarters. The Arab Parliament recently acknowledged Morocco's longstanding efforts in championing Palestinians' rights to an independent state. This endorsement reflects the wider appreciation of Morocco's role in the region.

Morocco's commitment extends beyond diplomatic channels, manifesting in tangible humanitarian aid. Since October 7, the country has dispatched two significant aid shipments to Gaza, aimed at alleviating the dire humanitarian crisis. The most recent delivery in June comprised a 40-ton aid package, including crucial medical supplies and other essential commodities. A similar shipment was sent in March, demonstrating Morocco's sustained efforts to support Gaza's struggling civilian population.

These humanitarian initiatives underscore Morocco's proactive approach in addressing the urgent needs of Palestinians amid the ongoing conflict. The consistent flow of aid serves as a concrete expression of Morocco's solidarity with the Palestinian people during these challenging times.

As tensions persist in the region, Morocco's unwavering support for Palestine continues to play a crucial role in shaping diplomatic discourse and humanitarian efforts. The kingdom's actions reaffirm its commitment to fostering stability and advocating for the rights of Palestinians in the international arena.
