Key Discussions Focus on Sovereignty, Cohesive National Efforts, and Regional Progress

In a significant working meeting held on Thursday, the Moroccan Ministry of Interior underscored its dedication to national unity and regional development. The meeting, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of King Mohammed VI's ascension to the throne, brought together several high-ranking officials to deliberate on critical national issues.

Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit chaired the meeting, which saw the participation of notable figures, including the Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, and the Director General of Civil Protection.

A statement from the ministry highlighted that the gathering served as an occasion to reflect on the royal directives articulated in the king's anniversary speech. The officials expressed deep gratitude for the king's visionary guidance, which has shaped Morocco's progress across political, security, economic, social, and cultural domains.

Addressing recent developments related to the national cause, the ministry emphasized France's position affirming that the “present and future of the Moroccan Sahara fall within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty.” This stance reinforces Morocco's territorial integrity and sovereignty over the region.

The Interior Ministry called for increased engagement from all stakeholders, particularly local governors and officials, to commit fully to development programs and oversee local authorities, which are seen as essential partners in regional development efforts. The ministry praised the unity and cohesion exhibited by residents of the southern provinces, commending the national spirit of tribal elders, leaders, elected representatives, and civil society actors for their dedication to defending Morocco’s sovereignty.

Furthermore, the ministry stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to ensure the success of the social state project, a major royal initiative being implemented by the current government. The statement noted that conscious and responsible engagement in this project is a national duty, urging all stakeholders to remain fully committed to its noble objectives.

In preparation for the upcoming general population and housing census scheduled for next month, the Interior Ministry affirmed its readiness to manage the subsequent phases efficiently. It will collaborate closely with the High Commission for Planning to ensure the mobilization of necessary human and logistical resources.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the Ministry of Interior's "steadfast commitment and constant readiness to stand behind King Mohammed VI in serving the nation and its citizens."

This reaffirmation of commitment during the Throne Day celebrations highlights the ministry's dedication to fostering national unity and driving forward Morocco’s developmental agenda.
