In a proactive move to fortify the nation's digital landscape, Morocco has unveiled a groundbreaking platform, "E-Blagh," aimed at combating the escalating threat of cybercrimes. This initiative, spearheaded by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), underscores Morocco's unwavering commitment to safeguarding its citizens' digital rights and fostering a secure online environment.

The annual report released by the DGSN last year revealed a concerning 6% surge in cybersecurity crimes, with a staggering 5,965 cases reported. This alarming statistic served as a catalyst for the development of the E-Blagh platform, which seeks to empower citizens and fortify the nation's defenses against digital threats.

Accessible from within and beyond Morocco's borders, the E-Blagh platform seamlessly integrates with all internet browsing devices and applications, catering to both fixed and mobile users. This user-friendly interface enables internet and social media users to swiftly and securely report any criminal or violent digital content, encompassing incitements to harm others' security, terrorism-related propaganda, and infringements on the rights and freedoms of minors.

Recognizing the paramount importance of data protection, the DGSN has meticulously designed the E-Blagh platform with robust measures and ethical principles. Users' personal data is safeguarded through stringent protocols, and the reporting mechanism offers flexible options, empowering individuals to either disclose or withhold their identity, ensuring a heightened sense of security and privacy.

In a statement underscoring the platform's significance, the DGSN heralded E-Blagh as an embodiment of fundamental security principles and concerns. "This new platform establishes fundamental security principles and concerns, including the coproduction of security, which makes the citizen a partner in the consolidation of security in its broad definition, by reporting all potential risks and threats," the statement elaborated.

Citizens can access the digital platform through www.e-blagh.ma and promptly file reports concerning any potentially criminal content that threatens their well-being. The DGSN has pledged to address all reports and alerts with utmost seriousness and expediency, underscoring its commitment to thorough investigations and inquiries.

Beyond the implementation of the E-Blagh platform, the DGSN's annual report shed light on the grave nature of cybercrime in Morocco. Extortionate content accounted for a staggering 4,070 criminal incidents, while 842 international mandates were directed in these cases. Furthermore, the report revealed that 874 individuals were arrested and referred to the justice system for their involvement in similar crimes.

Notably, the report highlighted the prevalence of sexual extortion cases, with 508 incidents recorded in the past year, representing an alarming 18% increase. Consequently, 182 individuals implicated in these criminal acts were apprehended, while the number of victims stood at 515, including 109 foreign nationals.

As Morocco embraces the digital era with determination, the E-Blagh platform stands as a testament to the nation's commitment to fostering a secure and trustworthy online ecosystem. By empowering citizens and fortifying its cybersecurity defenses, Morocco is poised to navigate the digital landscape with confidence, safeguarding its citizens' rights and upholding the highest standards of online safety.
