In a significant development for international financial oversight, Morocco's Court of Auditors has been elected to lead the Secretariat of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions with Jurisdictional Competence (JURISAI). This appointment, made during JURISAI's founding General Assembly in Paris, marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of global public financial governance.

The Moroccan delegation, led by Zineb El Adaoui, First President of the Court of Auditors, played a key role in this historic assembly. As part of its new responsibilities, Morocco's Supreme Audit Institution (ISC) will host JURISAI's headquarters, underscoring the country's growing influence in international financial oversight.

This achievement reflects the global recognition of Morocco's efforts to advance a jurisdictional model in public financial control. The Court of Auditors, in collaboration with Brazil's Federal Court of Accounts, spearheaded the JURISAI initiative, which began with the signing of the Rabat Declaration in February.

The journey to JURISAI's formation included a crucial meeting in Casablanca in June, where members of the Forum of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) with jurisdictional functions finalized the organization's statutes. This meeting was instrumental in transforming the forum into an international organization affiliated with INTOSAI (International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions).

JURISAI's founding General Assembly brought together leaders from 32 Supreme Audit Institutions across four continents. Notable attendees included Bruno Dantas, President of Brazil's Court of Accounts and current INTOSAI head, and Margit Kraker, INTOSAI's Secretary General.

The organization aims to promote the jurisdictional model within the ISC community, enhance its global standing, and establish specialized standards. JURISAI also seeks to strengthen the capacities of its member institutions by providing a dedicated framework for collaboration and development.

During the assembly, France's Court of Auditors was elected to the presidency, and leaders of JURISAI's permanent commissions were appointed. The organization also adopted a strategic plan to guide its future activities.

This development represents a significant step forward in international financial oversight, with Morocco playing a central role in shaping the future of public sector auditing on a global scale.
